Kayak Trip, July 31, 2006

Leah is ready to go! (The kayak is on the carrier behind her.)

Collin and Chelsea (our newest acquaintances ) are ready for their canoe, too.

Colin and Chelsea found the old rope swing.

My kayak seemed to attract dragonflies.

We stopped for a while and had a snack after about half an hour on the water.

It was a beautiful day on the Little Miami river.

We saw great herons, turtles, ducks, lots of bugs, some jumping fish,
and some long, thin fish with long noses and speckled tails.

I fell in twice. The first time I got a little wet as I got out to help Leah off some rocks.
The second time I got  lot wet as I rolled the kayak in the middle of a deep and quite pool.

The camera went under too, so it stopped working.
I got the memory card out immediately, but then dropped in the river.
It took a couple of minutes to find it in the muddy water.
Amazingly, I had no trouble getting the pictures off at home.

Leah made it all the way back to the pullout, but she fell in the water as she tried to get out of the kayak.

Our outfitter for this mini-adventure was Loveland Canoe and Kayak, http://www.lovelandcanoe.com/.
