Trebuchet Pumpkin Toss, November 3, 2006

(trebuchet is pronounced tray-boo-shay)

A bunch of us from work showed up for the annual pumpkin toss.

I arrived at the home of Derek and Donna just in time for the first launch.

The two people serving as ballast appear to be first-timers.

(In the past, we always both faced toward the ravine on the left.)

Pierre got the traditional perspective.

I went out into the range to be the spotter.

Away she goes!

And down she comes, right on target (me).

That's the ravine where the better long shots go.

Preparing for another shot.

And watching out for falling debris.

The view from the ballast seat.

The view from the audience.

More targets.

There I am. (I wore a helmet this year, because I tend to bump my head.)

Fully cocked.

And getting loaded.

Ready.

Bigger ballast. (Another new guy.)

More heavy ballast (right Tom?)

Four of our favorite repeat offenders.
