Parade
After the ceremony we walked over to Union Station to use indoor toilets
and get hot drinks... liked this sign at the International Brotherhood of
Teamsters building. Teamsters seem to have traveled quite a distance.
Excellent graphic.
The infamous 2009 Tunnel of Doom, where thousands were crammed in waiting to get
through security to watch the inauguration and never made it (at least they lived).
The tunnel was part of the 2009 Lessons Learned
and not in use for 2013 route to ceremony.
Approaching security screening for the parade route.
Our detour to Union Station meant that we got there just as the parade was starting.... excellent!
The New Jersey State Police were guarding our section of the parade route.
Their uniforms look like they were designed in the 1930s and have not been
updated, since (a little fascistic).
We were in front of the Canadian Embassy.
They had a great view from their patio/plaza.
That's the Prez.... he got out for his walk a couple of blocks passed where we were.
The Bidens
Punahou School, the President's high school; first non-military contingent
Second Band: Miami University from Oxford OH! I was so proud -
we get recognized for our work putting that Electoral College vote over the top.
Illinois (#3) - Obama's other Home State
Dear Friend, Susan. We got to meet up and have lunch on Tuesday.
Perfect ending to my DC stay.
