Every man knows his follies and often they are the most interesting thing he has got.
-- Josh Billings --
a.ka. Henry Wheeler Shaw (1818 - 1885)
To paraphrase a wonderfully perceptive observer from years gone by, it's no shame to be a fool, but it may as well be. So, the point of this is that everyone is a fool in one way or another, but so few people are OK with that we make it be all right to castigate and ridicule and otherwise abuse one another when we show our foolish sides. There are so many ways to be a fool, so many types of fool abroad in the world, we can easily take them all for granted and lose site of the great contribution foolishness is in the world. To be sure, a fool is often a fool to his or her own detriment, but that does not deminish the value and importance of the fools gift. - unfinished -
